The SupaLite Warm Roof System Explained (2026 Buyer's Guide)
What is a SupaLite warm roof? How it's built, U-values, building reg approval and why we fit it as our exclusive system across Plymouth, Devon & Cornwall.

We fit one warm roof system, and one only: SupaLite. Here's exactly what it is, how it's built, the U-values it achieves, and why we don't fit anything else on our insulated tiled conservatory roof installations across Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall.
What is the SupaLite warm roof?
SupaLite is a fully-engineered, lightweight replacement roof system designed specifically for conservatories. It replaces your existing polycarbonate or glass roof with an insulated, tiled structure that performs like a proper extension roof — but is light enough to sit safely on existing conservatory frames. It's the system behind our conservatory roof replacement service.
Unlike a "stick built" timber roof from a general builder, every SupaLite roof is designed in CAD, pre-cut in a factory and delivered to site as a kit. Each roof comes with structural calculations specific to your conservatory, which is what unlocks fast building control sign-off.
How is it built up?
From the inside out, a SupaLite roof typically includes:
- Plastered, painted ceiling — the room finally feels like a real room
- Vapour barrier — controls condensation
- High-performance insulation board — multiple layers, exceeding building reg U-values
- Engineered timber rafters — pre-cut and bonded for your exact roof shape
- Breathable membrane & battens
- Lightweight tiles — slate-effect or tile-effect, in your choice of colour

Why SupaLite (and not the alternatives)?
- LABC and LABSS approved — sails through building control (why this matters)
- Lightweight — no need to rebuild base or replace frames in most cases
- Insurance-backed 10-year guarantee on the system
- British-engineered with a long, proven track record on real homes
- Designed for UK weather — coastal Plymouth, Plymstock and Saltash wind and rain included
- Manufactured, not improvised — every roof is engineered for your specific conservatory in CAD before any timber is cut
What about the alternatives?
Other lightweight warm roof systems exist, but we've consistently chosen SupaLite over them for three reasons: (1) the engineered-kit approach gives the cleanest install with fewest on-site decisions, (2) the building control documentation is the most thorough in the market, and (3) the 10-year insurance-backed guarantee gives our customers real protection rather than a piece of paper from an installer who might not be trading in 2030.
How long does it take to fit?
Most jobs are watertight within a single day. Day 2–3 is internal insulation and ceiling boards. Day 4–5 is plastering and finishing. Day 6–7 is electrics, decoration and snagging. We work clean, protect floors, and tidy up properly each evening — we'll never leave your home with mess overnight.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Comparing on price alone. Different warm roof systems aren't all the same. The U-value, the engineering documentation and the insurance-backed guarantee make a real long-term difference.
- Choosing an installer who fits multiple systems. Specialists who fit one system know it inside out. Generalists are still learning on your conservatory.
- Skipping the plastered ceiling. The plastered finish is what turns the SupaLite roof from a tiled lid into a proper room. Always specify it.

Frequently asked questions
Is the SupaLite warm roof building regulations approved?
Yes. SupaLite is fully LABC and LABSS approved with engineering calculations included. We submit the building notice to your local authority and hand you the completion certificate at the end of the job.
What U-value does a SupaLite warm roof achieve?
Around 0.15 W/m²K — better than most house extensions built before 2010, and roughly 13× more thermally efficient than a typical glass conservatory roof at 2.0+ W/m²K.
How long does it take to install a SupaLite roof?
Most conservatories are watertight within a single day and fully finished — including the plastered ceiling and downlighters — within 5–7 working days.
Does the SupaLite roof come with a guarantee?
Yes — a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee on the SupaLite system itself, plus our own workmanship guarantee on the installation.
Will a SupaLite roof need new frames or footings?
Almost never. SupaLite was specifically engineered to be lightweight (around half the weight of a traditional tiled roof) so it sits safely on existing conservatory frames and base. We confirm this at the survey.
Can I have downlighters or roof windows in a SupaLite roof?
Yes — both. Recessed LED downlighters are standard on most installs, and we can design in Velux roof windows where extra overhead daylight is wanted.
